Charlie’s teaching and research revolve around working towards environmental and community sustainability, applied ethics, social inclusivity, communications and ‘sense of place’.

In addition, Charlie is involved in developing qualitative research methodologies that measure the effectiveness of community and environmental programs. Charlie has also travelled internationally as a guest speaker and brings both local and global understandings to his work. Through attending and presenting at conferences, running workshops and visiting sustainability projects and places he inspires and is inspired by sustainability work around the globe. 

 Current and recent projects have included research on Coffs Harbour Innovation Farm and Clarence Valley Healthy Communities Initiative & Gumbayngirr Cultural Connections
